BioThis is a bit of a mixed-bag kind of blog, and it acts as a bit of a self-debriefing process when things come up with my work and/or study It also contains reflections on my training in martial arts; my struggles as I seek to improve my cardiovascular fitness; and just random shit. After all, I write this blog purely for myself, and not for the aplomb of others.
Why the user name? It is the phonetic spelling of Jirinka, which is sort of like my Czech name - or what my Grandmother wanted me to be called, she being a formidable Czech woman and all. Unfortunately I have never learned Czech, as my Grandparents only fought in the language and did not teach my mother anything much, and there are not many situations that can use "Shut up you baboon" in polite conversation.
Please note the fact that I am a nurse working in a tertiary intensive care unit, and there may be occasions that my mind may go beyond the level of the gutter and roam around freely in the lower reaches of the sewer. I may write about things that are not for the delicate of stomach. I am however, only an ICU nurse - Emergency nurses are worse, much worse.
Professionally my interests are Cardiac Surgery and Head Injury Management.
